Dream Theater - Afterlife

Dug this one out from the time when I used to (attempt to) play bass to random MIDI files of various progressive and video game music tracks in my bedroom during high school.

Dream Theater is a HUGE part of my musical history, and while I discovered them through Images & Words, Awake and Falling Into Infinity, I soon after discovered their early tracks had a something special - and as the ever mysterious John Myung's bass lines are as hard to hear as ever, and at that time he was playing a lot of pretty weird stuff all over the neck in his tracks, this one comes with a fair bit of interpretation on my part. I honestly didn't focus too much on trying to do a 1-for-1 cover. Was fun trying to build a "Myung tone" too 😛 (I think he was playing a 4 string Spector back then).

While this is the kind of stuff I used to play a lot back then, this time I had to rebuild some endurance on my picking hand over the week to be able to play it without struggling too much.
